The Houston Rockets try for their sixth consecutive win when they pay a visit to the Miami Heat tonight.
After winning seven of their last eight games, the Heat find themselves just a half game behind the second placed Celtics. It's not like the Heat have had an easy schedule either, as six of their seven wins came against playoff-bound teams, so they are finally showing some consistency when playing against the teams with winning records. The Heat's latest game was on Friday against the Sixers, in a game where the Heat were down by five after three quarters, before a 34-17 fourth quarter saw them win by 111-99. Philadelphia had no answer for Dwayne Wade who had 39 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while LeBron James had 32 points and 10 rebounds.
Coming into this meeting, the Rockets have plenty of momentum after they blitzed the Warriors by 131-112 on Wednesday to make it five consecutive wins. Kevin Martin had his second straight 34-point scoring game while Chuck Hayes stole the show with a triple-double of 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. The Rockets now sit in ninth position and are just 1 1/2 games behind Memphis for the eighth spot in the Western Conference.
The Heat won the only meeting between these teams this season by 125-119, as they shot 58.1 percent from the field, while Dwayne Wade had a game-high 45 points.
The Rockets are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games against teams above .600 while the Heat are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 at home. Head to head, the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six while the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
The Heat look like they are starting to play to their potential, beating the better teams with Wade and James leading the way so I expect them to continue with another win tonight. However, the Rockets are playing their best basketball of their season and have not played since Wednesday, so they will be well-rested and prepared for this challenge. The Heat have been playing great basketball lately, but I think 8.5 points is just too many to be laying against this Rockets team who are clicking on all cylinders.
