Cleveland Indians (54-80) at Seattle Mariners (52-82)
MLB Baseball: Friday September 3, 2010 10:10 PM ESTSP: Fausto Carmona (11-13, 4.19) SEA: Luke French (3-4, 4.13)Odds and Statistical Match UpNeither Cleveland nor Seattle have had any success this year, and at this point are trying their best to build a strong team for the future. Finishing this year well would go a long way toward making that happen, and that could start Friday as Fausto Carmona faces Luke French. After winning his first start in the month of August, Fausto Carmona finished the month miserably losing his last five starts and ending with a 5.12 ERA. He lost his only appearance against the Mariners so far this season, getting no run support as he allowing three runs over six innings. Cleveland has played poorly of late losing four of their last six, and are only 25-41 on the road this season. Shin Shoo Choo has enjoyed a very successful last week, batting .310 with a home run and eight RBIs. Luke French has done a solid job since being thrust into the starter role for the Mariners, settling down nicely in August as he went 3-3 with a 3.40 ERA. He won his only other appearance against the Indians, allowing three runs in six innings of work. Seattle has also been terrible here over the past couple of weeks, losing two in a row and seven of ten overall. Russell Branyan was definitely ready for the new month to begin, as he hit only .185 during the month of August. This game figures to be a close one, with a couple a mediocre pitchers taking on embarrassing offenses. While Carmona is the more established pitcher, I dont see Cleveland winning two in a row on the road. I expect Seattle to give French enough support to work with and even this series up. Cory's Pick: Seattle
