“If you’re a guy, you don’t want to go out on dates with these women (who watch UFC), right?  Greg Miles, Financial Reporter, Bloomberg TV

“The girls who watch UFC are hot… you, actually, do want to go out on dates with these girls.”  Dana White’s response to Greg Miles from Bloomberg TV

Obviously, Greg doesn't have a clue about us female UFC fans.  First of all, what did he expect Dana White, UFC President, to say about the people who make up 35-40% (as stated in a Bloomberg TV video of Dana speaking with interviewer, Greg Miles) of his fan base?

Rachel from mmahotstuff.com published this video in the WOMEN Only! section of her blog back in October.  To watch the video, click Women and the UFC

Based on how Greg phrased the question, “If you’re a guy…” it sounds like he expected Dana to agree with his point of view.  And what kind of a date would require the use of an “arm triangle choke, a guillotine choke or an ankle lock”? Any woman finding herself in the unfortunate position of being "on a date" with Mr. Miles would do better demonstrating the old 1-2-3 (jab, cross, hook). Nice and neat - No need to get all tangled up. The only person hitting the floor is you, buster.

Sometimes, men say stoo-pid stuff. My B side is offended. This is what my B side looks like. That guy’s comment ruffled my feathers.

I don’t like having my feathers ruffled.

Now, most of you reading this have been on the planet long enough to know that women have an A side and a B side. Our A side is sugar and spice and everything nice. Our B side is, well, not that.

To set the record straight, I would like to introduce you to female fans who love MMA – what we look like and what we sound like.  Because it’s so unusual, why don’t we just let a woman explain her fascination with mixed martial arts. I went on line and googled female UFC fans and the only thing that popped up that looked interesting was UFC Fighter, Frank Mir’s website Frank gets it. He posed a question and several female fans responded.  Here’s one woman’s response:

Being a female fan of the UFC, I can honestly say that I haven't always "gotten it" until several years ago. I made the realization that MMA wasn't just a barbaric act of two men fighting in a cage, but rather a controlled sporting event that involves a lot of skill, technique, and training behind it.

One thing I would definitely like to continue to see is the involvement that many UFC fighters have had to train average people to develop the same skill that you have--opening gyms that you actually train at as well and have a hands-on approach in the classes and training done at the facilities. On another note, I think I (as well as many other fans) would like more opportunites to meet our favorite MMA stars.

On the flipside, one thing I would like to see less of is the heavy crap talking of fighters in pre-fight interviews and such. While I know that it is all part of the intimidation factor, I truly believe that fighters who truly deserve to win do so in a "may the best man win" kind of fashion and not to mention will save them from any kind of embarassment when their prideful statements are forever replayed. A perfect example of this was the GSP/Penn fight (without taking account the supposed "grease-gate" scandal).

Oh, and I wanna see less of fighters getting up after they clearly get ko'd in a fight, and argue with refs about how they should'nt of stopped the fight even when they were as limp as a dead fish. Goodness, face it people... you lost. haha.

Lastly, I wanna see you beat Brock Lesner for the second time, but this time without catching the reign of his infamous hammer fists and fists of fury! I admit, that scared the living crap out of me! Get him on the ground and submit the hell out of him!

P.S. Let's try to get Uriah Faber to fight in the UFC! ANNND get Dana and Tito to settle their differences so Tito can come back and fight. :)

BEAT BROCK!

I have been an MMA fanatic for over 5 years now, and as time passes I fall in love with the sport more and more. I know not every woman can find the beauty in it, but I definitely do, and I have a ton of respect and admiration for MMA fighters. Their heart, dedication, and sacrifice is amazing, not to mention the fact that they themselves are HOT! Why would hot women not want to watch hot men scrap??? Hot men + hot women = one smokin' sport! smilies/wink.gif -Lana
